How to help the Skyline High School dental assistant who died after being struck by a car

A dental assistant at a Skyline high School was struck and killed by a passing car on the city’s west side, according to a dental union.

Skyline Unified School District officials said the dental assistant, who had been on the job for less than a year, was struck by the driver’s side window of a vehicle on East Main Street shortly before 6 a.m. on Tuesday.

The dental assistant’s death is under investigation.

Skylines principal James D. Johnson said in a statement that he is heartbroken by the loss of the assistant.

“We are in disbelief, and we are trying to do everything we can to support the family,” Johnson said.

Johnson added that the dental assistants union has agreed to reimburse all dental bills that were incurred for his family.

The district will be holding a funeral for the assistant on Friday.

In a statement, the Skylines District Board of Education said that the school district is cooperating fully with the NTSB and the medical examiner.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the deceased employee and all other members of the Skylens staff,” the board said.
