Schools to reopen as soon as weather permits

NEW YORK (AP) Schools across the country are back open.

Some schools have reopened as planned, while others will be closed as officials investigate how to keep students safe.

Schools in the New York City area were among those that reopened Thursday.

Schools are expected to reopen Sunday as schools reopen in some areas.

Some schools in Connecticut were expected to be closed for days as officials assessed the impact of the storm.

But they will reopen as planned after the weather improves.

The state was already open for schools as early as Monday.

For the second day in a row, New York Mayor Bill de Blasio said he expects to see “no major disruptions” in schools by Saturday.

School Superintendent Lorna McLean says her office is still assessing the damage and determining how many students will be able to return to classes this week.
