A New England town looks to hire an afterschool teacher after school closings

An afterschool program is helping a Desoto County school district find a new teacher after a wave of closures.

The Desoto School District will open in March 2019, according to a statement from the Desoto Community School District.

“The district is pleased to announce that the new school, which will be located at 1030 N. Main Street in Desoto, will be the first of many after school programs that will be offered in Desos’ school system,” the statement said.

Desoto Community Schools will serve about 700 students in grades 3 to 8.

After a series of closings last summer, schools began closing early.

In January, Desoto Public Schools closed for the first time since 2007.

In August, Desoans schools were ordered to reopen by the U.S. Department of Education after a state-funded program for afterschool programs was canceled.

A teacher was hired as a replacement.

The new school will have classes of between 10 and 12 students.

Students at the Deso’s schools will also have access to computers, tablets, and a gym.

This is the first year that Desoto High School has opened in a new location.

It has about 4,500 students.
